BISCUITS COUNTRY CAFE - TUCSON, AZ

Bill and i went here after putting the car through a successful emissions test and after stopping at K-mart to do some unexciting but necessary shopping (think mop). The food here was ok but nothing special. The prices were reasonable and the service good and the portions large but again, nothing stood out EXCEPT

the overdone patriotic theme. Every inch of that restaurant including the walls, tables, shelves, chairs and menu had flags, god bless america's, i love america's, stand for america, endless enveloping red, white and blue, banners and placques exhorting one to be for america; salt and pepper shakers that were red white and blue, a xmas tree decorated with american flags and uncle sam pictures and troops fighting for america grasping guns next to wall hangings which exhorted one to pray for peace and more flags and red white and blue tablecloths.

I felt like i had walked into a Newt Gingrich - republican - christian stronghold. The only place where i could escape the voter booth mentality was the bathroom which surprisingly was decorated with Elvis stuff. There were pictures of him in his prime and then in his bloated self and paintings of graceland and elvis statues and wonderful handsewn elvis boots.

However, Elvis couldn't make up for the red white and blue.
