I was looking forward to this movie starring Guy Pearce; a mindless silly plotted but action packed sci-fi thriller and both of us were very disappointed. The President's daughter who was touring a futuristic prison in the sky was kidnapped by the inmates and Guy Pearce was sent in to rescue her. OK, simple enough but filled with too many incredulous parts for even a movie of this genre. The most unbelievable was the rescue landing from the floating jail which was gentle and smooth and ended on a totally deserted freeway. It was almost like watching a hot air balloon tour.
Pearce was supplied with witty and sarcastic one-liners and at first these were humorous and smart but that comprised his entire dialogue throughout out the film and after the first 15 minutes it became highly annoying. However, not as much as the patter and "relationship" between him and the daughter. Her acting was on a par with January Jones.
the only character i enjoyed from beginning to end was the crazed one-milky-eyed brother of the leader of the inmate band.
