HUMMINGBIRD CAFE - TUCSON, AZ

This restaurant (small in size like a hummingbird!) is on the SW corner of Broadway and Kolb and only several doors down from Biscuits Cafe which is an americana patriotic republican heavily decorated mess of a greasy spoon.

The service was good and the food was good and the prices were great; $8.70 (that included tax) for a 3 egg omelette with tomatoes, onions and mushrooms, and home fries (grilled red potatoes cut in too large pcs. and not seasoned) and a choice of bread. I chose 2 half slices of french toast.

Even though the maple syrup was heated up three times it never got warm enough for me but the french toast was still excellent swimming in its pool of buttery goodness.

I'll be back and try their lunch the next time. They are open till 2pm and closed on Monday.

  1. For reasons unknown I find the name of this restaurant disturbing. I can't help but picture a row of 7 or 8 limp, dead hummingbirds lined up on a rectangular plate, accompanied by some sort of dipping sauce. Hm.

  2. Although if accompanied by the right dipping sauce, I might eat just about anything.
Great review, Maggie. You're making me miss home!
