This movie starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt is now out on DVD and not worth your time UNLESS you enjoy seeing a bunch of rude, dangerous, inconsiderate, in-your-face and in-your-driving-lane, aggressive and proud to be obnoxious bicycle messengers.
we saw the original with Kevin Bacon about 2 months ago and that was a horrid movie because not only did you have to watch all the steroid pumping legs you also had to endure a stupid insipid romance sub-plot.
The premise of the movie is that a messenger is given a package to deliver that someone other than the intended recipient desperately wants. The entire film is bicycles going fast. and what puts the candle on this rated 2 movie is the Memento style "story" telling. so on the screen you see action that is then preceded by what happened prior to that scene. This happened all through the movie until we just quit watching.
I saw the description of this and had NO desire to see it because I used to know a bicycle messenger and he was JUST LIKE your description. (He later fell asleep in his apartment, drunk, with a lit cigarette and almost burned the house down and escaped by jumping through a plate-glass window and had a long recovery and had to give up being ultra-cool cycling hipster dude). He and all his messenger cronies were the most self-absorbed, dismally anti-intellectual, truly "in group" I had ever met. Elitism is the dark side of cycling imho. What a waste of talent, JG Leavitt and Kevin Bacon both.
