WILD GARLIC GRILL - TUCSON, AZ

This restaurant moved into the space formerly occupied by 3 and 1/2 brothers which was a great casual burgers and sandwiches place until the brothers hired a new chef. So now there is wild garlic grill and they have not changed the dimensions or the inner architecture at all which makes the eating experience quite unpleasant.

The one room is  small and the tables are super jammed together especially the poor souls who are  at one of the several tiny 2 seaters in the middle of the space separated by perhaps 8 inches from their neighbor. There is no decoration or theme in the place. and when you enter the restaurant you have to go through a small narrow walkway and to the right is the open cooking area and I'll be damned but garlic grill lined the counter right next to the hot grill area with stools and then shoved in 2 or 3 high tables on the left side. which means you have to keep your elbows close to you when walking in or out otherwise you're going to upend someone's drink.

All that said and my bitching out of the way (oh, one more thing; as the restaurant filled up, the noise level was incredible.), the food was really good and the prices fairly reasonable and the portions were large and the service was very efficient.

bill had the steamed wrapped tilapia which he really enjoyed and i had mesquite honey chili marinated ribs which were most excellent. Lots of  tender meat on each
rib and the smoky sauce was great. This was accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes which were good. Bill has a leftover lunch from both the potatoes and the ribs which i couldn't finish.

There was also a wierd "salad"? on the plate which consisted of green stuff which i could not identify and also some other material which i had to discreetly take out of my mouth because it was like chewing cardboard. Could it have been a hip slick and cool exotic type of lettuce? i think some of it was rhubarb.

Jean had lamb which she liked although preferring the animal without all the sauce they put on and Tim had a grilled chicken salad which it seemed he enjoyed because the plate was so clean when he was through it was hard to imagine any food on it.

We would only go back with Jean and Tim.

  1. Any way Cosmo can look like Jean..or if they're super slim, Jean & Tim ? Sounds like the food is
good...even though one must slip and slid through the tables - that could be annoying. Blue Eyed
Mindful takes us all over town..and sometimes to
great places...the talapia sounded tasty...now if I can just pull myself together to look like
    Jean....

  2. P.S.

I'm confused on the date - is the restaurant also a time machine ? Today is Saturday , July 20th...or is it Sunday ?
    July 30, 2013 will be a Tuesday.....or maybe it won't...
