A coot on one of the many ponds in the Wetlands Nature Preserve. This area is home to the famous (though i've never heard of it before) Las Vegas Wash. This is where all the water that the vegas residents use (which comes from Lake Mead) gets de-toxified and de-poopified and gets pumped back into Lake Mead.
The bridge over the Wash which was just a fast flowing sudsy foul smelling body of water and the city in the background.
Yes this hike was pretty dull. Lots of grasses and reeds and people. About half the trails are paved so easy to walk on for anyone or for families with babies in strollers. But we managed to find a private space for our apple break and lunch stop. And in the afternoon for about 90 minutes all the clouds (which i think is mostly caused by all the air traffic) disappeared and the breeze stopped and it was heavenly as we had found a quiet area with benches.
We are headed to the Valley of Fire State Park later this week so stay tuned to this channel.
Miss Maggie is on the move! Hope my snail mail catches up with you. Happy Trails!
